1

Download the official app

Start by downloading the official wallet application for your operating system. Only install software from the manufacturer’s official site to avoid malicious copies. The app will guide you through firmware updates and initialization.

2

Connect your device

Connect the hardware wallet to your computer with the supplied cable. Verify the device screen shows a welcome message and that the model printed on the device matches the box.

3

Create a new wallet

Choose “Create new” when prompted by the app. The device will generate a recovery phrase. Write the recovery words on the provided card — never store the recovery phrase digitally or take photos of it.

4

Verify the recovery phrase

All devices ask you to confirm a subset of the recovery words. This proves you recorded them correctly. If any words are lost, restore the device only from the original phrase.

5

Set a PIN

Choose a PIN on the device. The PIN prevents local physical access to your wallet. Use something memorable but not easily guessable; avoid patterns that resemble your birthday or common sequences.

6

Finish and test

After initialization, send a tiny test transaction to confirm the device and app are correctly paired. Verify addresses on the device screen before approving any transaction.

Why this matters

A hardware wallet stores private keys in an isolated environment so approvals happen on the device itself. This helps protect funds from malware on your computer and phishing attempts. Secure setup and safe storage of your recovery phrase are the most important steps to keep your assets under control.

Frequently asked

What if I lose my device?
Use your recovery phrase to restore on a new compatible device or supported software wallet. Recovery phrase custody is the only reliable backup.
Can I back up the phrase digitally?
No. Digital backups (photos, cloud, notes) are vulnerable to theft. Use physical backups and consider distributing parts across secure locations if desired.
Is firmware updates safe?
Yes — apply firmware updates only from the official app and verify update signatures when the app prompts you to do so. Never accept firmware from untrusted sources.
